Passive
In the world of telecommunications, DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) and HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial) systems rely on “passive” components to distribute signals without needing an external power source at each point of connection.
While they use similar physical hardware, their internal components are optimized for different frequency ranges: DBS typically operates at higher frequencies (up to 2150 MHz or higher) compared to standard HFC (typically up to 1000–1218 MHz).
